If you’re on this site, chances are you’ve smoked weed before.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn something.
While these pro stoner tips are most useful for beginners, even experience smokers can learn something.
And if not, you can criticize something.
Let me know if you think these tips are idiotic.
Ideally, give me some better ones, while you’re at it. I would love to add more to the list.
Professional Stoner Tips
Whether you are new to smoking weed or you have been doing it for years, I hope you find at least one useful tips below. And ideally many.
Choose The Right Strain
Choose your weed strain based on your tolerance level as well as the kind of high you want. You can also choose a strain based on the ailment you have – muscle aches, insomnia, anxiety, etc.โif you have been prescribed medicinal marijuana.
If you are looking for a subtle or mellow relaxation, go in for Indica strains. These produce complete mental and physical relaxation – what stoners call a โbody highโ.
If you are a beginner to weed, choose an โapproachableโ strain with balanced THC and CBD levels. If you tend to experience paranoia after smoking weed, avoid sativa strains, as they contain a lot more THC that can increase paranoia.
Decide Whether To Smoke Alone Or With Friends
First-time smokers often become self-conscious while smoking around people, especially sober ones. Some people also experience deep paranoia or ‘explode’ when they try weed for the first time. If that is the case, it may be best to smoke alone.
If not, make sure you are comfortable getting high in social situations. If it is your first time and you have a trustworthy, experienced friend, you can choose to get high with them, so they can keep an eye on things.
It should be someone you know and feel safe with. Never smoke weed with a bunch of people you donโt know, especially if it is your first time.
Have A Safe Place To Chill In
One of the important tips for an enjoyable high when smoking alone is to have a safe place to chill. It could be your room, a well-ventilated basement, or an attic where you can just relax for the next two or three hours.
Ideally, it should be a place where no one will disturb you and where the smell wonโt seep out and alert your neighbors or parents.
Start Small/Know Your Optimum Dose
Whether you smoke or eat edibles, it is best to start small, especially if it is your first time. Likewise, if you experience anxiety or paranoia, you may be using too much. So, know the right dose. If you are using weed for medicinal reasons, your cannabis specialist/dispensary can guide you with the right dose.
Remember: the high you experience can vary based not only on the weed strain but also the way you consume it (edible, vape, or smoke).
Have A Backup Plan
You will learn your limits and tolerance as you smoke but it is still better to have a backup plan. For example, if getting high makes you uncomfortable or anxious, you can try to relax by watching TV or simply sleeping the high off.
Some people recommend remedies like sucking on lemons or chewing on peppercorns to reduce the high. However, these may not always work. It is best to go for a walk in a safe place with a trusted, sober friend, or at least have someone who can bring you to a couch.
Play Video Games
It is great to keep your mind occupied after smoking weed to relax and unwind. For an enjoyable high, stoners recommend playing video games on the PS, Xbox, or phone.
Some of the best video games for smoking weed are: Until Dawn, Grand Theft Auto, Outer Wilds, and Minecraft. These are known to have an immersive experience that becomes better when high.
If you are smoking with friends, you can also play social stoner games like Never Have I Ever for an enjoyable experience.
Listen To Music
Music is a great way to enjoy the high while also keeping anxiety and paranoia at bay. Most stoners like to listen to their favorite songs on repeat. Others recommend music with heavy bass for a trippy experience.
Meditate
If you tend to experience paranoia or anxiety after smoking weed, try to focus on your breathing. Or do something else to divert your mind from the stressful thoughts.
Experienced stoners recommend listening to binaural beats/alpha/theta wave meditation music (or guided meditations). Others recommend breathing exercises to enhance the high after smoking weed.
Keep Food And Water Handy
To combat dry mouth after smoking, drink plenty of water. Experienced stoners recommend juices, milkshakes (especially chocolate milkshakes), smoothies, energy drinks, herbal teas, pops, or sodas.
To satisfy those marijuana munchies, keep salty or savory foods like pizzas, burgers, tacos, pretzels, cheese balls, chips, salted nuts, nachos, bacon, and ramen on hand.
You could also opt for sweet snacks like cookies, chocolate bars, or marshmallows. If you want healthier options, go for hummus with vegetables or fruits (especially juicy ones like mangos and peaches).
Remember: foods and drinks with strong, distinctive flavors are best, as they take your heightened taste experience to the next level.
Take A Nature Walk
Seeking solace in nature can be extremely therapeutic, and can enhance the high of marijuana. Take deep breaths as you walk. This will also help tone down the overwhelming effects of THC, especially if you want to sober up after the high.
Remember: Safety first. Do not drive while stoned. Avoid hiking in rough or dangerous terrain where you need all of your faculties.
Keep Realistic Expectations
Often, stoners try to experience the same high they got when they smoked for the first time. This can lead to overuse or abuse, which can be dangerous.
Understand that there is still some mystery around the mechanics of getting high. So try to reflect on what each experience provides. Did you get a new perspective? Did it make you physically sick? Was it a good experience? If yes, why? If not, why?
Take A Break
If you smoke regularly, your body could develop a tolerance to weed, causing you to need more and more to get high. So, it is recommended that you take a break every once in a while, to re-evaluate your balance.
A break is also a good time to ask yourself if you should stop completely. Getting high can have benefits but if you are finding yourself addicted to it or craving it all the time, you need to prolong the break.
Remember: everything has pros and cons and weed, like a lot of things, can create dependency. A break can help you assess where you stand.
