These days, there are cool gadgets for everything.
Cannabis is no exception.
There are tons of gadgets available to make the life of any pot smoker a little easier or more fun.
And the same goes for pot growers.
Of course, many of these gadgets are pretty useless.
You won’t find any of those here. All of the gadgets below are either useful or just plain cool. (I can light my bowl with a laser? Take my money!)
Fun And Useful Gadgets for Growers And Smokers
For me, the universal vaporizer and the laser combustor (is that the right word?) are the coolest gadgets below. I want them both. But the others are all either useful or fun, too.
Portable Herb Mill for Grinding
Every medicinal cannabis user needs a mill for grinding their flowers and buds. The Mamba kitchen spice grinding mill comes with sharp teeth to help you grind your herbs quickly (at a speed 15 times faster than normal mills/grinders).
You don’t have to worry about contamination, spillage, etc. This mill also retains the aroma and flavor of your buds. Mamba mill is perfect for people with arthritis or other mobility issues, because it promises a jam-free motion.
It also comes with a push-button that allows you to easily grind without straining or cramping your hands. The best part is that the mill is easy to clean since there are no sharp parts where the herbs can get stuck.
Smoke And Odor Eliminator Filter System
If you smoke cannabis in your car, dorm room, or office, you need this filtration gadget to keep the room from smelling. Be polite to your neighbors and use the Smoke Buddy filter system, so they are not offended by the cannabis smell.
Smoke Buddy odor eliminator comes with an activated carbon filter. It is the same system used in water purifiers and filters. It traps and eliminates smoke and odors so you can smoke guilt-free wherever you want!
Puffco Proxy
Any vaporizer is a cool gadget in my book (there are a few more below), but how about one you can fit onto any pipe you might already have lying around? The Puffco Proxy does just that.
The Proxy slides into a regular glass piece. This allows you to turn your regular smoking instrument into a vaporizer. You charge the unit via USB and you have four different heat levels you can choose from.
Hitoki Saber
I feel old-fashioned now! Yes, I admit it: I still use a lighter to light my bowls. Or I use my vaporizer. But that is not the way of the future. In the future, we will use lasers to light our weed.
Well, the future is now!
The Hitoki Saber uses a laser to burn your cannabis. There are a number of different rigs you can buy, but for most of us, the one that fits on top of your existing hardware is probably the most interesting.
Naturally, none of these things are cheap. But can you really put a price on lighting your weed with a laser?
DynaVap
First a word of warning. The DynaVap products are a ‘love them or hate them’ kind of thing. Some people simply do not like them. I think it is because it takes a bit of getting used to, in order to get a nice cloud. IF you try it a few times and give up, I can see how you may not like it.
But if you give these things a chance and use them correctly, they produce a great cloud of vapor. And they are extremely portable.
They are a manual vaporizer, in a sense. You fill it and then heat the tip with an external heat source, like a butane torch or an induction heater. You will hear a click when the flower is at the correct temperature for you to take your hit.
Grow Tent
- Easy set up with no tools needed
- Convenient form factor with a zip shut door
- Not too heavy, does not take up too much floor space
- Made of thick sturdy mylar
- Though it is technically easy to set up the tent, you also have to hang lights and install ventilation, so the ‘super easy set up’ may be a bit misleading.
- Sometimes the light can leak a tiny bit at the corners if the zipper is not fully closed
Grow tents are an important tool for small-scale home growers. And that makes them a cool gadget in my book! They are made with sturdy light-proof, tear-resistant, and plant-friendly oxford cloth. These tents also have an observation window so you can easily observe your plants.
Vivosun grow tents come with pockets where you can keep important growing accessories and tools. They also have hanging belts and removable floor trays for an easy cleanup. Most importantly Vivosun tents are a great value: they are some of the least expensive on the market, but are better quality than other dep-budget tents.
TDS Meter
No matter what your growing style is, you need a TDS meter to quickly and accurately measure the PPM (parts per million) value of your potential water sources.
The Hone Forest meter is easy to read and features a bright display. It is also pre-calibrated so you don’t have to do anything separately. The Hone Forest TDS meter is quite easy to maintain and lasts long when used properly.
Timer
- Versatile with 8 different programs possible over a 7 day repeat cycle
- Inexpensive considering all it can do
- Durable with a fortified plastic chassis
- 2 outlets on either side of the unit allows you to plug 2 different lights into a single unit
- The side located outlets force the cords to come out the sides and take up more space on the wall
If you are growing your plants indoors, you need a digital timer to control the lighting. For example, certain photo-period strains need 18 hours of light for vegetative growth but only 12 hours during the flowering stage.
You cannot be expected to remember to turn the light off and on; a digital timer can help you automate the process. This BN-Link timer is designed to make your life easier. It is a reliable, sturdy, and heavy-duty timer that is also easy to use.
Trichome Microscope
- Simple design is easy to understand and use
- Travels anywhere with no issues
- Does a good job magnifying
- Built in light
- Very affordable
- Not a serious scientific instrument
- Has no camera function or recording ability
Cannabis microscopes help you keep an eye on your plant’s trichomes, the tiny hair-like structures that determine the plant’s potency. You also need a microscope after harvesting your weed to observe its growth and know the best harvest time.
The Carson Microbite pocket microscope comes with an eyepiece that enables you to observe without any eye strain. You don’t even need glasses when using this microscope. It comes with a built-in powerful light that brightly illuminates the specimen. It has a magnification range of 60x to 120x for maximum accuracy and precision.
Humidity Control Packs
This is one of the best gifts to give your cannabis-user and grower friends. It helps keep the stash fresh for months by maintaining the ideal humidity.
Humidity control packs come in different ratings so you can choose one according to the area you live in or based on your buds’ stickiness.
The Boveda Humidity Control Packs have ratings like 58%, 62%, 75%, etc. Simply place a packet with your stash inside an air-tight container. If the air in the container is too moist, the Boveda humidity control pack will absorb the excess moisture.
On the other hand, if the air is too dry, it will add back or replenish the moisture in the container. This helps keep your buds and flowers fresh and vibrant, just as nature intended.
Rolling Machine
A rolling machine is a perfect gift for a cannabis or tobacco connoisseur or anyone unable to roll their joints properly. No more buying pre-rolled joints for a huge mark-up from cannabis stores!
The RAW rolling machine is designed to help you perfectly roll your doobies. Create joints with the perfect draw resistance so your throat and lungs are protected. It is easy to use, affordable, and compact in size.
Herb Decarboxylator Infuser
Decarboxylation is an essential step in making cannabis edibles and oils. Without decarboxylation, the THC in the weed won’t get activated and your edibles won’t have the desired effects.
If you are worried about the smell or about your edibles not getting properly activated, you need this herb decarboxylator infuser. The Decarb Infuser from ECRU is FCC-approved and guarantees to reduce odor during the decarboxylation process.
It is also straightforward to use. Simply choose from two preset modes: infusion or decarboxylation. The canister’s wall and bottom heating elements uniformly heat up to provide optimal decarboxylation. The ECRU infuser also comes with a double locking system which helps control the smell during the process.
Cannabis-Related Tech Gadgets: Final Thoughts
I found a lot of bizarre gadgets when researching this article, but the above-listed ones are the best gadgets for pot smokers and growers. I know some of them are nothing new (like a grow tent or a timer), but I couldn’t find enough really useful ones.
Instead of adding things to the list I really don’t want to endorse, I decided to add some products that are invaluable to cannabis growers. That is why you see things like grow tents and timers on the list.
