The Most Unbelievable Weed World Records
If you love world records (and weed) as much as I do, you’re going to love these world records.
World Record For The Most Joints Smoked In A Day
Cannabis supporter and medical weed user Irvin Rosenfeld was prescribed 10 joints of medical marijuana per day. However, he took things much further and smoked over 115,000 joints. That is more than anyone else in history.
For this feat, he was included in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records for “most marijuana consumed.” Rosenfeld hasnโt had a tumor since he turned 20 and he is now 71 years old and without any side effects. We must also mention here that rapper Snoop Dogg smokes almost 150 cannabis joints every single day.
The World Record For The Strongest Marijuana Strain
Chiquita Banana is an Indica-dominant strain having a potent 34% THC content. This hybrid strain, a cross between Kush and Banana, gives off an alluring and robust banana flavor. Chiquita Banana has maintained its reputation as the strongest weed strain since 2016.
Naturally, its high potency means that you must consume it in moderation. Its effects are profound and known to provide a cerebral buzz followed by long-lasting relaxation.
Another strain called the Godfather OG is also known to produce over 30 % THC. This Indica dominant strain provides pain relief and de-stresses the mind and body. It also gives lasting euphoric effects.
The Worldโs Longest Joint
The world record for the longest hand-rolled joint belongs to Tony Greenhand. To celebrate 4/20 in 2016, Greenhand rolled a 4.20-pound (1.90 kg), watermelon-shaped joint over five days.
Later, in 2017, a group called Beantown Greentown (from Worcester, Massachusetts), rolled a 106 foot long joint.
Worldโs Biggest Pot Brownie
Massachusetts is the state that is home to the most cannabis-related world records. The world record for the worldโs biggest pot brownie also goes to a Massachusetts-based cannabis company called MariMed. In December 2021, the employees of MariMed baked 3 x 3 foot and 15-inch-tall pot brownie weighing 850 lb. It contained THC equivalent to almost 66 joints.
The World Record For The Tallest Pot Plant
According to the Growers Network Forum, the tallest cannabis plant on record was an auto-flowering marijuana strain developed by the HempTraders. It produced around 2.48 pounds of weed and measured an incredible 24 feet and 1 inch. In 2021, the HempTraders submitted their claim to the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Worldโs Largest Cannabis Drug Haul By Weight
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) made the largest cannabis drug haul in Afghanistan in 2008. It was worth ยฃ225 million and weighed 261.25 tons (the equivalent of 30 double-decker buses). The Royal Air Force later destroyed the cannabis using Harrier fighter aircraft.
The Worldโs Largest Marijuana Seizure (DEA)
On November 8, 1984, officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency in Alexandria, Virginia, USA, confiscated 1,932,303 kilograms (4,260,00 pounds) of marijuana in Mexico.
The Shortest Jury Deliberation for Cultivating Cannabis
On July 22, 2004, Nicholas Clive McAllister from New Zealand was found โnot guiltyโ of growing cannabis plants. The deliberations were completed in under one minute at the Greymouth District Court on the West Coast of NZ.
The jury left to decide at 3:28 pm and returned at 3:29 pm. This short time didn’t give them enough time to even sit at the table. McAllister was accused of growing more than 20 types of cannabis plants, but he said he did not know about it. Even though he could not explain why he ran from the police, the jury didn’t think there was enough proof to say he was guilty.
The Oldest Cannabis Usage Recorded
Cannabis smoking is not new but exactly how old is it? Records show that some marijuana and related smoking tools were discovered in Xinjiang province, western China, dating back to 500 BCEโmore than 2,500 years ago.
Some scientists believe that weed may have been used even earlier, possibly during the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period (8800โ6500 BCE), although more evidence is needed to ascertain this for a fact.
The Biggest Hotboxing Event
Hot boxing is a slang term for smoking or vaporizing marijuana in an enclosed area. This can include bathrooms, small tents, dorm rooms, or a car. The idea is to create a lot of smoke in the enclosed space and get everyone high.
The biggest hot boxing event took place during Spannabis 2016 in Barcelona, a huge weed festival, where they burnt over 800 grams of cannabis dab (Butane Hash Oil or BHO). Check out the video here.
The Biggest Cannabis Company
Curaleaf Holdings is the biggest cannabis company in the world. It was founded in 2010 and has headquarters in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Curaleaf operates several cannabis dispensaries and cultivation sites across 19 American states. Boris Jordan, a Russian, is the companyโs CEO.
Curaleaf Holdings has seen significant growth and has a market value of billions. It employs over 2500 people and owns several brands, including Grassroots. However, the company is also embroiled in scandals involving Russian oligarch money, product safety violations, and unfair labor practices. These have raised some concerns about its ethical practices.
The Country With The Highest Marijuana Consumption
Chile takes the lead here with almost a third of its population using some form of cannabis or the other. This is followed by Canada, where, based on 2017 statistics, the average weed consumption per person is 27 grams in Nova Scotia alone.
In 2020, Israel demonstrated a high prevalence of cannabis use: almost 27% of its population smoked marijuana. Surprisingly, in the US, only 17% of Americans self-reported marijuana usage in 2023.
According to the 2023 Cannabis Global Price Index, the average annual consumption of weed among NYC residents totals 62.3 metric tons. California remains the worldโs largest cannabis market. In 2023, it projected $5 billion in adult-use marijuana sales.
The Country Producing The Most Amount of Legal Cannabis
Afghanistan produces between 1500 and 3500 tons of hashish every year. Surprisingly, the UK produces almost half of the worldโs legal marijuana. In 2019, it reported producing nearly 350 tons of the drug for legal use.
